Boat at White Island in Ras Mohammed National Park

Ras Mohammed National Park Trips from Sharm El Sheikh

Ras Mohammed is Egypt's first national park, at the southern tip of the Sinai Peninsula where the Gulf of Suez meets the Gulf of Aqaba. Its reefs are among the richest in the Red Sea, and it is about 30 minutes' drive from Sharm El Sheikh.

There are two ways to visit: a full-day boat trip with snorkeling stops and White Island, or a shorter land tour by bus through the park's landmarks with beach snorkeling.

By boat: Ras Mohammed and White Island

The boat leaves the port at about 08:30 and returns around 17:00. You snorkel at two of the park's reef sites and stop at White Island, a sandbank in the open sea, with a freshly cooked lunch and soft drinks on board. Park entrance and an instructor are included; you can add one or two introductory dives without a certificate.

By bus: the land tour

The 5-hour land tour leaves around 08:00 and visits the mangrove channel, where trees grow straight out of the sea, the Allah Gate monument, the Magic Lake and the Earthquake Cracks, then finishes with snorkeling from the beach. It is the better choice if you prefer to stay on land or have limited time.

What you might see

  • Hard and soft corals in shallow, clear water
  • Reef fish such as parrotfish, butterflyfish and anthias
  • Turtles and rays on some days
