Sharm El Sheikh with Kids: Family-Friendly Tours, Prices and Tips

Warm sea, guaranteed sunshine and short transfers make Sharm El Sheikh a great family destination. Here are the tours that work best with children, what they cost, and how to plan around naps and the midday heat.

Sharm El Sheikh is one of the easiest places in Egypt to travel with children. The flight is short from much of Europe, the sea is warm and calm for most of the year, and almost every trip includes pickup from your hotel. The trick is choosing the right activities for your children's ages and timing them around the heat.

Family-friendly tours and what they cost

Quad safari (from €15)

The 3-hour morning quad safari or afternoon quad safari includes 1 hour 20 minutes on the quads and a visit to a Bedouin village for tea.

  • Adults €15 (€17 with a camel ride).
  • Children aged 6–12: €7 (€10 with a camel ride).
  • Children under 6: free.

Driving rules depend on age; tell us your children's ages when you book and we'll confirm who can drive and who rides as a passenger.

Family buggy (€45 for four)

On the dune buggy safari a family buggy seats four for €45 in total, so you all ride together with a parent at the wheel. It is often the most fun option for families with younger children.

Super Safari (€24, children €11)

The Super Safari adds a sunset camel ride, a Bedouin dinner and a show with tanoura and fire dancing. Children aged 6–12 pay €11 and under-6s go free. It is an evening trip, returning around 21:30, so it suits children who can manage a late night.

Swimming with dolphins (from €60)

Swimming with dolphins at Dolphina Park takes about two hours including transfers, with 15 or 30 minutes in the pool with a trainer and life jackets for everyone. Note that personal phones are not allowed during the swim; photos are sold on site.

Parasailing (from €20)

Parasailing is suitable for most ages, and two people can fly side by side under a double parachute, so a parent and child can go together.

Ras Mohammed by bus (€16)

The Ras Mohammed land tour is a gentle, five-hour way to see the national park: mangroves, the Magic Lake, viewpoints and shallow beach snorkeling. It is back by lunchtime, ideal for younger children. Read our boat vs bus comparison if you are deciding.

Boat trips (from €27)

The Ras Mohammed boat trip and the Tiran Island trip are full days of about 8 hours. They are wonderful for children who swim confidently and enjoy snorkeling. On the Ras Mohammed boat, children under 2 travel free.

Which tours suit which ages?

  1. Toddlers and preschoolers: Ras Mohammed by bus, dolphins, the family buggy as passengers, hotel beach and house reef.
  2. Ages 6–12: quad safari, Super Safari, parasailing, and a boat trip if they swim well.
  3. Teenagers: everything, including the Colored Canyon and Dahab day trip (9 hours, €25) and an introductory dive on a boat trip.

Practical tips for families

  • Avoid the midday sun. From June to September choose the morning quad safari or late-afternoon trips; see the best time to visit.
  • Cover up. Scarves, sunglasses and long sleeves protect from sun and dust on safaris. Our packing list has the details.
  • Bring water and snacks on the shorter tours where food is not included.
  • Life jackets make snorkeling relaxed for children; bring well-fitting masks from home if you can.
  • Plan a quiet day between big trips. An 8-hour boat day followed by an evening safari is a lot for small children.

Frequently asked questions

Is Sharm El Sheikh good for families?

Yes. Calm, warm water, many family resorts with pools and aquaparks, and short trips with hotel pickup make it an easy destination with children. Several tours have child prices for ages 6–12 and are free for under-6s.

Can children go on a quad safari in Sharm El Sheikh?

Yes. Children aged 6–12 pay €7 on the 3-hour quad safari and under-6s go free. Whether a child drives or rides as a passenger depends on age; tell us their ages when booking.

What is the best family tour in Sharm El Sheikh?

For younger children, the family buggy (€45 for four) and the Ras Mohammed land tour by bus (€16) are easy favourites. For older children, the Super Safari with camel ride, dinner and show is the most memorable evening.

Are boat trips safe for children?

Yes, with life jackets and supervision. The full-day boat trips are long, so they best suit children who swim confidently; under-2s travel free on the Ras Mohammed boat trip.
